What are the values that guide you?
Values are the things that are important to us. Take a moment to think about or write down what those are to you. It may be spending time with family, having a meaningful connection with your children and loved ones, stability within your life, being active, going outdoors, taking care of yourself mentally and physically, etc.
Whatever your values are, how do you show those things are important to you by your actions?
If creating meaningful connections with friends are important to me, how do my actions show this to be true? I can reach out to the friends that I want to cultivate this. I can say “yes” when those friends ask me to do things with them. The actions you take show where your values lie.
That being said, it is also important to set and hold boundaries for yourself and others that align with your values. The key to this is communication. When we need to hold a boundary with ourself or others and also value the relationship it’s important to communicate our needs to others. This may be simply responding to a text to meet up by saying what you need in that moment, how much you value the other person and propose a way for you both to connect.
Knowing yourself and what’s important to you is a step towards living a life more akin to your authentic and true self.
Be well!
