Embrace the Power of Routines: Reduce Stress, Sleep Better, and Live Mindfully

Research has shown the benefits of routines: they reduce anxiety and stress, help you sleep better, and so forth. Making decisions makes us humans stressed, so the fewer decisions we make in a given day, the less stressed we should be. We all have some routines in our lives: the way you get ready for bed, how you wash your hands, get dressed, etc. Most of us eat three to five times per day; that alone gives us some structure and predictability in our day.

Knowing this, let’s take a look into our own lives and be our own investigators. What routines work well for me? What routines aren’t working and need to be revised? What routines do I need to get rid of? What’s one new routine I want to start, and what will get me there?

We are our own investigators! Find the WHY behind those reflections. Then take that information and use it to inform your routines and choices. This should lead to less stress and anxiety, giving you more peace and space to engage with the world in a more mindful and present way.

Be well
